A very warm welcome to everyone. It has been a fantastic start for Maple class this year. They have settled in wonderfully. We have been looking at our topic for this term 'Scrumdiddlyumptious' and thinking about what this might mean.
Please do not hesitate to come in a see me and I look forward to seeing you all this evening for our Meet the Teacher evening.
On Tuesday, Year 4 went on a visit to Caterpillar where we got the chance to go inside lots of different vehicles! We were also given lots of challenges to complete including a spaghetti and marshmallow challenge (to build the biggest tower) and the lego challenge ( to assemble as many diggers as possible in five minutes! It went so well that we have been invited back again in the future to look at more the equipment!
Last week Mrs Bryan came into school to help Maple make some tasty beef burgers as part of our topic on Road Trip USA. In groups, we all took a turn grating, chopping and shaping the patties. We prepared some tomato and cheese and then tucked in! Yum Yum!
Maple have returned back to school after the Christmas holidays ready to explore their new topic of Potions! On Thursday, we spent the day investigating our new science topic: states of matter, making chocolates and finding out what happens when you heat a solid and cool a liquid. We did some sketching of a potion scene using chalk and pastels, and began to explore the density and consistency of liquids!

We are starting to get the photographs onto the site now, but with around 2000 images to go through and upload, it will take a little time to get it all done!

Last week Maple class went to Beaumanor for the week and got up to lots of fun! We all had a fantastic time climbing, canoeing, making emergency shelters and doing archery! More photos to follow.
