It was lovely to have all the children of the federation together for our special Remembrance service at All Saints Church on Tuesday. The service began by Y5/6 children reminding us why we were all there and was continued in that theme by Mrs Allsopp sharing her family history of WW1. The children were able to look at some images associated with WW1 and were quick to answer the questions posed by Reverend Norman such as 'Why do we have poppies?' and 'Why do we have services at this particular day and time?'
The last post preceded the two minute silence and as the silence ended children from Y3/4 laid their beautifully made poppies and poppy wreaths near the lectern. Y5/6 shared their haiku's about the war whilst Y3/4 read out their letters to an unknown soldier.
Key stage one led a lovely rendition of 'It's a long way to Tipperary' and the service ended with prayers read from children across the federation. The children behaved beautifully throughout the service and were very respectful of why we were there.
