On Friday Year 6 got a chance to go a little off-piste with their learning. So we spent the morning looking at creating Branching databases, accurately drawing insects and using our reasoning skills to describe the insects, where they might live and what they might eat. Much squealing and shuddering was had by many! While our efforts might not have been 100% accurate, what was important was that the pupils got the experience of trying to classify and describe these creatures in the manner of early Naturalists including Charles Darwin. Accuracy of description and logical deductitive techniques are important skills for future Scientists to have.
