Autumn 1 - Scrumdiddlyumptious
Autumn 1 was a topic called Scrumdiddlyumptious! We had a great time exploring different fruits and drawing them. We discussed and developed a wide range of art and design techniques using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space. We then tasted and described them too.
After that we tasted and described different foods like jelly, wotsits, cheese, tomato ketchup and celery.
We also investigated the 5 different food groups and designed a healthy lunch box.
We then continued by finding out about different sorts of bread and where they come from in the world. We all loved tasting these too!!We named and located the world’s seven continents and five oceans by using atlases so that we could discuss where different food comes from.
We found out where chocolate comes from and discussed fair trading and what it means to farmers. We really enjoyed this.
Our term finished off with a fabulous trip to Cadbury World in Birmingham. We were very excited and listened carefully to all the information and facts about chocolate. We even got to eat some with toppings of our choice. Yum yum!!
In P.E our focus has been on learning the skills of netball and basketball. We played small team games and have enjoyed this.
Year 2/3 – Conifer class also led the Harvest festival which took place at the Methodist Church in Sapcote. We celebrated the gathering of fruits and vegetables and thought about countries less fortunate than us. We listened to a piece of music by the Christians called Harvest for the World. The whole school attended and many parents came too.
