Water Wheels

Today we designed, made, tested and evaluated our own water wheel. We found out why they are important to people today and then looked at the different materials we had on offer to then design our own. We worked either by ourselves or in partners to create one. In the afternoon we tested them out (and only one didn’t work) and then we evaluated them to think about what we could do better next time. Well done Hazel Class! What a brilliant day we had!

Our trip to Rutland Water

Today Hazel Class visited Rutland Water with Holly Class. Hazel Class learnt all about what Rutland Water is how it was formed and who it helps now. We then learnt about water in other countries and how to make water cleaner. Finally we did a little bird watching. It was a fantastic day and the children learnt lots.

Topic Launch Day

Today we designed and made bridges only using newspaper and tape. We needed to decide how we were going to make it. We revised and improved our designs throughout the process and then we tested them using weights. In the afternoon we wrote instructions for how to make them.
