Summer Term 2 - Wriggle and Crawl
This term we will be working outside and identifying minibeasts. We will be researching their natural habitats and writing instructions on how to look after minibeasts properly. We are going to investigate how far and fast a snail can travel, learn about the life cycle of a honey bee and we'll even observe a beehive through live webcam footage!
Summer Term 1 - The Scented Garden
This term we will be discovering the sights, sounds and smells of the outdoors! We'll find out about interesting plants and write our own non-chronological reports about how to take care of them. We will even do some planting of seeds and look after them throughout the summer term, hopefully observing them as they grow into beautiful flowers. We will be making detailed, observational drawings of flowers and discussing the different parts. We cannot wait to discover the plants and flowers in our own school grounds.
Spring Term 2
During this half term we will be focusing on our new topic 'Rio de Vida!' We will be studying maps and globes to locate Brazil and thinking about what it would be like to live there. We will be doing our own research into Brazilian culture and even putting on our dancing shoes to the sounds of samba!
Spring Term One
Our topic this term is 'Muck, Mess and Mixtures' we will be investigating a variety of materials and even creating our own magical potions! We will be busy experimenting how materials can change and writing our own recipes inspired by Roald Dahl's Revolting Recipes.
Welcome to Oak Class!
This term our topic is The Great Fire of London. We are really enjoying being history detectives and 'going back in time' to discover how the Great Fire started. We have carefully studied extracts from Samuel Pepys' diary and loved learning that he buried his parmesan cheese to keep it safe from the fire! We used all of the information that we have gathered to write our very own newspaper reports.
We have been thinking a lot about fire safety, we have made our own fire safety posters and were even lucky enough to be visited by a Leicestershire Firefighter! We learned lots about how firefighting has changed over time and some of us even got to dress up in real firefighter's clothes!
